Postgraduate Scholarship (CGS-UPSP)

Chinese Government Scholarship-University PostgraduateStudy Program (CGS-UPSP) is established by the Ministry of Education of China(hereinafter referred to as MOE) aiming to offer support in buildinginternational high level universities and promote Chinese higher educationbrand. Entrusted by MOE, China Pharmaceutical University recruits internationalgraduate students supported by CGS-UPSP across the world.

Basic Information and Duration of the Scholarships

1.Coverage of the scholarship:

1)Exemption from tuition and fees for registration, laboratory experiments, internship,basic learning materials, and intramural accommodation;

2)Living allowance:  

CNY2,000 per month for doctoral students;

CNY1,700 per month for master’s degree students

3)Fee for outpatient medical services and Comprehensive Medical Insurance and BenefitPlan for International Students in China;

4)A one-off settlement subsidy for new students after registration: CNY 1,500 perperson.

2. Categories ofApplicants and Duration of Scholarship

Note: In principle, the courses will betaught in Chinese. Scholarship students without sufficient Chinese language proficiencyare required to take one-year remedial Chinese language courses and pass therelevant test prior to the studies in their specialties. For those who take theone-year remedial Chinese language courses, the duration of the scholarshipwill be extended correspondingly.

Applicants can directly submit or sendthe application materials to the Office of International Exchange andCooperation, China Pharmaceutical University.

Eligibility Requirements

1.Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals and in good health.

2.Applicants are not studying in Chinese universities.

3.Education background and age limit:

-Applicants for master’s degree studies must have bachelor’s degree and be underthe age of 35;

-Applicants for Doctoral degree studies must have master’s degree and be underthe age of 40.

4.Applicants should have a competitive academic record.

5.Applicants should have strong scientific research ability.

Applicants are encouraged to contact their prospective supervisors prior to application and are expected to enclose in their application package the relevant recommendation letters written by those supervisors.

Application documents

The applicants must fill in and providethe following materials truly and correctly (in duplicate).

1.Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship( print the form after submittingapplication online)

2.Highest diploma (notarized photocopy). If applicants are university students or already employed, they should also provide documents of being university students oron-post employees. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must beattached with translations in Chinese or English.

3.Applicants for doctoral studies need to provide notarized copies of their undergraduateand graduate transcripts. Applicants for master’s degree studies need toprovide notarized copies of their undergraduate transcripts. Transcripts inlanguages other than Chinese or English must be attached with translations in Chineseor English.

4.Photocopy of the passport and two recent photos (white background, 35mm × 45mm in size)

5.A study or research proposal in Chinese or in English (no less than 800 words)

6.Two letters of recommendation from full professors or associate professors (inChinese or English)

7.Published academic papers or other academic achievements (if applicable)

8.Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (printed by Chinese quarantineauthority. Applicants are expected to keep the original copies) filled in English(Download from http://wb.cpu.edu.cn/en). The medical examinations must coverall the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Themedical examination results will be valid for 6 months. All applicants are kindly requested to take this factor into consideration as they plan to take themedical examination.

Applicants should submit or send the above materials to the Office of International Exchangeand Cooperation of China Pharmaceutical University before April 15, 2014.Application materials will NOT be returned regardless of the result of application.

Admission and Notification

1.China Pharmaceutical University will review all the application materials. Decisionsfor admission and for granting the scholarships will be made on the basis ofthe applicants’ competitiveness, academic record and otherwise.

2.The name list of the scholarship awardees for graduate programs will be sent to China Scholarship Council for review before the end of April, 2014.

3.Afterthe name list is reviewed and approved by China Scholarship Council, thescholarship awardees will be notified by the university and Admission Noticeand other relevant documents will be sent to them before the end of July, 2014.

4.Allapplicants need to pay RMB2000 Yuan as a deposit and will get refunded after registration at China pharmaceutical University.

Notes

1.Scholarship students’ affairs shall be managed according to relevant regulations of Chinese Government Scholarship. Scholarship students must go through the Annual Reviewof the Chinese Government Scholarship Status.

2.The duration of the scholarship could not be extended if the awardees fail to finish the studies due to personal reasons.

Scholarship students who have to suspend their studies because of illness should return totheir home country for further treatment and rest. Expenses for theinternational travel to and from the university will be borne by the students themselves, and their scholarship status will be reserved for one year at most,with the monthly living allowance stopped during the suspension. Scholarships of the students who suspend their studies for reasons other than illness willnot be reserved.
