Electrical Engineering and Automation
To train advanced engineering technicians in accordance with the Standard B in research-teaching type specialty, who are qualified to be engaged in the work of engineering design, system analysis, system running and system development in electrical engineering related areas, such as industrial control, electric engineering, power electronics, measuring and instrument, motion control, electronic and computer technology.
The students of the major are to learn the basic engineering and technical knowledge and receive basic trainings in electronics, electrical techniques, automation theory, information processing, computer techniques and application and have the problem solving ability in industrial control and equipment management.

The graduates must have following specific knowledge and abilities
(1) Have a solid foundation in natural science, such as mathematics, physics and chemistry, and humanities, social science and management science and strong foreign language competence;
(2) Master the basic theories and knowledge of the specialty;
(3) Master the professional knowledge and skills in one or two branches and be familiar with the development and trends of the specialty;
(4) Have the advanced training in engineering practice and certain ability in research, technical development and management;
(5) Meet the basic requirements of the College English Curriculum for Trial Implementation;
(6) Pass Band Two Computer Test for College Students of Non-computer Majors in Jiangsu Province.

Application procedure
1.Applicants lodge their applications including 250YuanRMB application fee with School for Overseas Students, Soochow University.
2.Soochow University makes the assessment of the applications and sends the qualified applicants the " JW202 Form","Admission Notice" and the "Physical Examination Record of Foreigners".
3.Applicants go to Chinese embassy or consulate in their home country to obtain visa and make travel arrangements.
4.Applicants arrive and register as required in the "Admission Notice".
