The School of Technical Physics was founded in 1970. There are two specialties offered by the School, including Electronic Science and Technology and Microelectronics. Both specialties are continuing to show exponential growth, and are likely to continue for the foreseeable future. A great number of research activities in different areas are carried out by the School. The School has remarkable strength in areas of Photoelectronics and Microelectronics with the leading research groups in the country. We initiate persistently the themes: advanced research, cooperative spirit, and outstanding students. Now advances in technology and in methods of analysis and design are showing up at such a rapid pace that many solutions and approaches to engineering problems must be completely rethought every few years. This has a profound influence on the type of people we hire as faculty, and on the nature of the training we provide with our students. We have adjusted our Ph.D., Master's and Undergraduate programs to better train students who will face extremely rapid change throughout their careers and will successfully work in multidisciplinary teams.

Research and teaching activities
A. Electronic Science and Technology
Electronic Science and Technology is fundamental for the whole Electronic Information Science. It offers a wide range of courses covering multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary studies. This specialty has the following three sections:

1. Lasers and optics section
This section studies Diode-Pumped Solid State lasers and Laser Devices, Quantum Optics, and Sensing and Measuring, Nonlinear Optics and Photo-conductive Switching and Optical Fiber Sensors.

2.Infrared technology section
The teaching and research activities in the area infrared technology offers studies for Focal Plane Imaging System and Real-Time Image Processing, Photo-electric Measurement System, Infrared Radiation Properties of Complex Background and Signal Processing.

B. Microelectronics
