Inner Mongolia Grassland---Let Your Soul Fly
Grassland in the Inner Mongolia is the representation of its natural beauty. Vast grasslands, including the Xilinguole Grassland, Gegentala Grassland are all good places for a grassland experience. The mushroom-like yurts, bright sky, fresh air, rolling grass and the flocks and herds moving like white clouds on the remote grassland, all contribute to make the scenery a very relaxing one. While visiting the grass land in the area of Inner Mongolia visitors may try different activities such as Mongolian wrestling, horse & camel riding, rodeo competitions, archery, visiting traditional families and enjoying the graceful Mongolian singing and dancing. The best time to visit the grassland is definitely during the traditional Mongolian Nadam Festival period when there is a better chance to both participate and feel the lively atmosphere of the grassland life.

Xilinguole Grassland is the typical temperate grassland. The marshland, grassland, sand dune savana and wetland in valleys are its main targets for protection. The Reserve is abundant in wildlife resources. There are 625 species of higher plants from 74 families and 291 genera. Spruce, white birth and willows are found here. There are a number of medicinal plants and economic plants such as Chinese thorowax, Scutellaria baicalensis, and polygala tenuifolia. Up to now, research in the Reserve has identified 658 species of floral plants including yellow day lilies and red morning star lilies. They are presenting a colorful and splendid picture on the grassland.

History and Culture
Throughout most of history and time, central and western Inner Mongolia, especially the hetao region, alternated in control between Chinese agriculturalists in the south and Xiongnu, Xianbei, Khitan, Nurchen, and Mongol nomads of the north. Eastern Inner Mongolia is properly speaking a part of Manchuria, and its historical narrative consists more of alternations between different groups there rather than the struggle between nomads and Chinese agriculturalists.
