Everyone who has taken this route loves it and we hope you can get different feeling today.

If you prefer a self-service tour, we would like to offer the following detailed route for your reference. Before your tour, we kindly suggest you take a detailed map with you.

Guilin is well-known for its delicate and enticing karst landscapes, while Xingping to Yangdi along the Li River is considered to be the essence part of Guilin scenery. There are river cruises available and in fact, the Guilin-Yangshuo boat ride passes through this area. There is also a 5 or 6 hour track for hiking along the Li River. The walk is a far more peaceful way to enjoy the Li River and mountain scenery than the loud noisy boat down the river. It takes you along the pebbly shores of the river, through many small villages, fields and bamboo forests. If you get tired, you can always rent a bamboo raft to float down the river. Hence, it becomes a popular destination for hiking enthusiasts.

This hiking route is about 20 kilometers. This section is one of the most classic hiking routes and requires good energy. During your hiking, you will cross three ferries and six villages. The whole route is divided into two parts by the Mural Hill (Jiu Ma Hua Shan). Here is the detailed step by step information:

If you start tour from Guilin, there is no direct bus to Yangdi. You can go to Guilin Bus Station to take the bus to Yangshuo and get off at the Entrance of Yangdi Road. It takes about 1.5 hours and the ticket is RMB6.50 per person. Then change a minibus to Yangdi Ferry. It takes about 15 minutes and the ticket is RMB2.50 per person.

If you start tour from Yangshuo, you can go to Yangshuo Bus Station to take the bus to Yangdi Ferry directly. The first shuttle leaves at 6:40 in the morning and runs at an interval of 20 minutes. It takes about 1.5 hours and the ticket is about RMB7-10.00 per person.

After getting to Yangdi Ferry, on the left side is the ticket office for the ferry boat, while on the right side you will find a restaurant named Daziran Restaurant. The ticket is RMB16.00 per person including twice ferry, one is this Yangdi Ferry and the other is Quanjiazhou Ferry. Once you get your ticket, walk down the riverside and then turn right, you may find the ferry boat. After cross the river, your hiking tour starts here. The hiking follows the path beside the Li River. The path is covered with rubbles and it is hard to walk on it. You may hurt your feet easily, so you are advised to wear a pair of comfortable shoes fitting for walking. When you walk to the end of the narrow rural path, you will find a small trail on the slope on your left hand, which leads to a small village named Langshi Village. Langshi means the rocks washed by the waves. As lots of rocks are piled at the river bank in the village, so the village gets this name. Langshi Village is a very old, simple and primitive village. There you may find the local women are washing their clothes in the small rivers, farmers are doing their farm works, while children are indulging themselves with playing. The houses in the village were also constructed in the very original style. Walk through the village and appreciate the fascinating scenery along the way. At the end of the village, you will find lots of stone steps. Walk down the steps and here the second ferry journey is waiting for you. This section of hiking will take you about 1 hour. The second ferry here is called Quanjiazhou Ferry, and the ferry will take you to another side of the river. After your disembarkation, look backward and you will find a nummular hill with a small part concaving in the middle, the locals call it Apple Mountain because of its shape.

Continue your hike along the mountain road for about 30 minutes, and you will encounter a fork road. The one on the right hand is short but is a little rural path not good to walk, while the one on the left is longer but along the river bank with better scenery. The scenery on the way is really amazing with small hills and green water, also a great stretch of sweet orange gardens. After walking for about 15 minutes, there is a little dock where local people sell some fruits or drinks here. Ending of the rural roads, you will pass a period cement dyke which is much easier to walk. On the way, you will pass some little stone bridges built by the local people. Finish the cement dyke, you will continue to turn to the little mountain trail for hiking. There is a sign with a blue arrow beside the path and please follow the direction to turn right to go ahead. Just walk a short while, and then you will reach Laocuntou Village, where you may find a restaurant to have lunch or have a rest.

Walk through the village and then turn to the rural path and you may find another village in front of you. Here you can see the most famous scenery of the Li River - the Mural Hill far away. It is said that there are nine horses' image on the hill, and the person will be considered as smart as long as he can recognize as many as possible. Enter this village and walk for about 30 minutes you will reach the end of the village, where you arrive at the last ferry - Lengshui Ferry. Here you need to buy the ticket for the ferry which is RMB4.00 Yuan per person.

After cross the ferry, walk along the cement road for about 2-3 hours to Xingping Village. 30 minutes before reaching Xingping, you will find the very scenery where our government used on the back side of CNY currency of 20.00Yuan. Here provide an excellent place to take pictures. After taking the picture, continue your hiking and you will pass a stone bridge. About 50 meters ahead and then turn left, you will reach the old street of Xingping Village. Wander around this old village to experience the local life style. The old houses here are still kept well and some people still live here. Walk to the end of the Xingping old street, you may find the bus station is just on the left side. Take the bus to Yangshuo. The transfer takes about one hour. The last bus from Xingping to Yangshuo leaves at 17:00, so please arrange your time properly in case of missing the last bus.

Kind notice: Please prepare some snacks and bottled water with you, since this will be a long way and you may feel thirsty and hungry.
