Recommended reason | School of Electronic Engineering and Optoelectronic Techniques (EEOT) was established in 1992 on the basis of the former Department of Electronic Engineering and Department of Optoelectronic Techniques. The main disciplines and majors of the EEOT were set up in the year of 1953 when the Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NUST), the former Military Engineering Institute of PLA was founded. After 52 years’ development the EEOT has become a multi-layered school of student training, scientific research and social service, its research covers information and communication engineering, electronic science and technology, optical engineering and mechatronic engineering.
The school has four postdoctoral stations: Electronic Science and Technology, Optical Engineering, Information and Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Optical Engineering, Information and Communication Engineering (including two secondary disciplines of Communication and Information System, Signal and Information Processing) and the Electronic Science and Technology (including 4 secondary disciplines: Electric Magnetic Field and Microwave Technology, Physical Electronics, Circuit and System and Microelectronics and Solid Electronics), there are three primary disciplines, and the secondary discipline Mechanical Electronic Engineering is qualified to confer doctoral degrees. The discipline of Optical Engineering is the key discipline of Jiangsu Province and the Commission of Science and Industry for National Defense. Communication and Information System and Mechatronic Engineering are the key disciplines of Jiangsu Province. The school has 6 undergraduate profession: Electronic & Information Engineering, Communications Engineering, Electronic Science & Techniques, Optoelectronic & Information Engineering, Detection, Guidance and Control Techniques and Information Countermeasure. Electronic & Information Engineering is the provincial key profession, and Communications Engineering, Electronic Science & Techniques, Optoelectronic & Information Engineering are the special professions at the provincial level.
The school has integrated training system for undergraduates, graduates, doctors and post-doctors. Every year it recruits about 500 undergraduates, 300 master / doctoral candidates and 200 engineering masters. There are currently 1908 undergraduates, 496 masters, 166 doctors in the school, 10 of them are international students.
At present, the school has a faculty of 176 teachers, including 33 professors (1 Changjiang Scholar, 2 IEEE Fellow, 1 outstanding expert, 1 national trans-century outstanding talent, 3 experts for science and technology of national defense industry “511 Talent Project”, 9 leading experts of 333 trans-century academy scientific and technological project of Jiangsu Province, 2 young academic leaders in “Cyanine Project”, 7 teachers enjoying subsidy from the State Council, and 23 doctor supervisors). 52 associate professors. Forty percent of the teachers have doctoral degree. The school has already established extensive cooperation and academic exchanges with the universities and scientific research institutions from U.S.A., Japan, Germany, France, Korea S., Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan etc. The teachers of the school go abroad to give lectures, hold academic exchanges and engage in scientific research and cooperation every year.
