Why us

WHO WE ARE Founded in 2005, That's Mandarin is a professional Chinese language school with two branches conveniently located in the heart of Beijing's expat and university districts, Dongzhimen and Wudaokou. Our number one priority is to provide our students with the confidence and skills they need to take the Mandarin they learn in the classroom and apply it in their daily lives right away. Our unique Linkword and story-based teaching methods are proven, winning alternatives to the dull, ineffective textbook-based Chinese that so many other programs favor. WHAT SETS US APART Unlike other schools, we only hire teachers on a full-time basis, ensuring that the entirety of their energy and professional focus is on their students. In fact, we're so confident in the quality of our programs that there is a money back guarantee if you are unsatisfied after your first week with us.

Our advantage

At That's Mandarin, our people are our best asset – they make the school a rewarding and fun place to both study and work. Our team of talented, dedicated teachers has a wide variety of educational and professional backgrounds and are all college educated. While some of our instructors majored in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, others got their undergraduate degrees in economics, literature, history, or law. A large number of our instructors have also completed graduate programs, allowing us to pair an instructor with an advanced level of knowledge on any particular topic with a student of similar interests. If we don't currently employ a teacher who fits your specific, advanced Chinese language needs, we will find one who does. All our teachers are full-time and well compensated for the hard work they do. Each new teacher we hire interns with us for two months before beginning to teach their own classes on a three month trial basis. If after five months they've received positive student and teacher reviews, they are hired on a full-time basis.
