Zhongshan Overseas Chinese Middle School (ZSOCMS) is one of the first top-grade schools of Guangdong Province and the first national demonstrative ordinary high schools. ZSOCMS was founded by the returned overseas Chinese Mr. Chen Maoyuan in 1954 and re-founded by the industrialist Mr. Cai Jiyou from Hong Kong in 1979. In 2007, Mr. Cai Guanshen, CEO of the Sunwah Group, took over as president of the school board, by which time the school, with its southern and northern sections covering over 20 hectares and holding around 7000 staff members and students, had become the largest comprehensive junior-senior high school in Zhongshan.
