With the aim of attracting outstanding students from around the world, increasing the number and improving the quality of international students at our school and increasing our capacity for international operation and our level of internationalization, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law has established an overseas students’ scholarship.
Chapter I: Details of Scholarship
I. Types of Recipients: The overseas students’ scholarship will support outstanding international students to apply for Bachelor, Master and Doctor’s degrees at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law.
II. Supported Programs: Students may choose a program of study from nine categories: economics, law, management, philosophy, literature, history, science, technology and art, according to the program list from students guide released in the same year.
III. Terms of Scholarship: The following list shows the terms of study and terms supported by the scholarship:

IV. Amount and Requirements of Scholarship:

“Basic textbooks” refer to textbooks required by courses designated by the school. Students are responsible for the costs of any other material.
● Free boarding (standard double room in international student dormitory): at cost standard of RMB 750 Yuan/month;
● Scholarship living allowance: at the standard amount of RMB 1,500 Yuan/month; scholarship-supported students who have arrived and registered at school prior to the 15th day of the month (including the 15th day) shall receive the living allowance for the full month; students who have registered after the 15th day shall receive living allowance for half a month.
● One-off settlement allowance: a one-off allowance of RMB 1,500 Yuan.
●Comprehensive Medical Insurance Plan of Foreign Students in China : RMB 800 Yuan/year.
2. Partial scholarship
● Registration and tuition are free of charge;
● Clinic service and general medical insurance for overseas students;
● Life safety insurance for overseas students: RMB 800 Yuan/year.
Chapter II: Application Process
V. Method and Time
The applicant will directly apply for the overseas student scholarship at International Education School, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law directly, and provide the specified application documents during the period from March 1 to May 31 of each year.
VI. Basic Criteria of Applicant
1. The applicant must be a holder of a foreign passport, have outstanding character, have interest in China, and have no criminal record.
2. Students applying for the scholarship with the purpose of Bachelor’s degree must be qualified for HSK Level 4 or above in Chinese language skills, and have good academic performance in high school.
3. Students applying for the scholarship with the purpose of graduate studies in a program taught in Chinese must be qualified for HSK Level 5 or above in Chinese language skills, and have good academic performance in university, with a GPA of 3.0 or above.
4. Students applying for the scholarship with the purpose of graduate studies in a program taught in English shall be qualified for IELTS 6.5 or above, or TOFEL 90 or above, and have good performance in university, with a GPA of 3.0 or above. Students whose native language is English are not required to provide IELTS or TOFEL grades.
VII. Documents to Be Submitted by Applicant
1. “Application Form for Zhongnan University of Economics and Law Overseas Student Scholarship” (provided by Zhongnan University of Economics and Law in a uniform format).
2. Certificates of the student’s highest degree of education, academic transcripts, and photocopies of graduation certificates, all notarized copies.
3. Study plan in China, minimum 200 Chinese characters for undergraduate programs, minimum 1500 words or Chinese characters for graduate programs.
4. “Physical Examination Record for Foreigner”.
5. Applicant for undergraduate program shall provide a letter of recommendation from the graduating high school; applicant for graduate program must provide letters of recommendation from two professors or associate professor-level faculty members.
6. Students applying for programs taught in Chinese must provide certificate for HSK Level 4 or above; Non-native English speaking students applying for program taught in English shall provide certificate for IELTS results of 6.5 or above.
7. Photocopies of the applicant’s passport and personal photo.
VIII. Admission and Enrollment
International Education School will conduct a preliminary review of application materials, and provide qualified materials to the school’s Review Committee for Overseas Student Scholarship. The committee shall decide whether the student is qualified for which type scholarship, and the type of scholarship. Prior to June 1 of each year, International Education School will generally notify the applicant of the review results.
International Education School will generally send documents including the school’s “Letter of Admission”, “Visa Application for Study in China” (the JW202 Form), etc to the applicant who has been admitted for scholarship prior to July 15 of each year.
The admitted student must apply for a student’s visa at the Chinese consulate or embassy with a valid passport, the school’s “Letter of Admission”, the JW202 Form, and the “Physical Examination Record for Foreigner”, then travel to China with these documents, and register at the school during the allotted time.
