How to Make Dumplings

Jiaozi(Chinese Dumpling) is a traditional Chinese Food, which is essential during holidays in Northern China. Chinese dumpling becomes one of the most widely loved foods in China.

 

Chinese dumpling is one of the most important foods in Chinese New Year. Since the shape of Chinese dumplings is similar to ancient Chinese gold or silver ingots, they symbolize wealth. Traditionally, the members of a family get together to make dumplings during the New Year's Eve. They may hide a coin in one of the dumplings. The person who finds the coin will likely have a good fortune in the New Year. Chinese dumpling is also popular in other Chinese holidays or festivals, so it is part of the Chinese culture or tradition.

 

Chinese dumpling is a delicious food. You can make a variety of Chinese dumplings using different fillings based on your taste and how various ingredients mixed together by you.

 

Today I will tell you how to make  dumplings.

 

Dumplings are a kind of dim sum in China. In northern China, the people eat the dumpling and noodles everyday. It is the food as important as the rice in southern China.

 

First we need fresh materials. Choose the best Chinese cabbage, ground pork and one tablespoon of leeks to make the stuffing. And then we must prepare a cup of rice flour and one egg to make exterior of the dumpling.  The third we have to prepare something like ginger, soy sauce, pepper, some sesame oil and a cup of warm water.

 

The tools to make the dumpling: use the chopsticks and provide some big bowls, the rolling pin are very important tools.

 

Now we start to make the dumpling,

 

Stage 1: Put the eggs into flour and mixing then in the big bowl, the warm water has to fall slow into the flours. When the water is poured, you must use your chopsticks to mix the flour. After mixing, you use your hands to knead the flour. And when you feel the flour become a dollop then you can stop knead.

 

Stage 2: Now we start to make the stuffing. In another big bowl, put the stuffing. Cut the leeks into pieces and chop the Chinese cabbage and ginger and the pork. Put them into the bowl and put some salt, pepper, soy sauce, sesame oil. Then you mix all the materials together.

 

Stage 3: Take a ball of dough, And then use the rolling pin rolls the dough, the flour will become the shape a coaster. Then you can put the stuffing into the dough and press the two sides of the dough together.

 

Stage 4: When you finished make the dumpling then you can boil then into the water.

 

After boil them, you can eat them with the soy sauce and vinegar.
