UIBE was founded in 1951 as the education and training base for government officials respoible for China&quo;s economic and international business administration under the leadehip of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation. In 2000, UIBE merged with the China Ititute of Finance and Banking and became one of 71 univeities under the leadehip of the Ministry of Education.
