Anhui University was founded in 1928. Back then the College of Humanities and Law was founded, to which the Chinese discipline belongs. Soon after the Chinese Department was established and a number of well-known scholars and writers such as Yu Dafu、Zhu Xiang 、Su Xuelin、Zhao Jingshen were teaching there. After more than 70 years of difficulties and through a few generations' efforts, today's Chinese Department is outstanding.
It has many teachers, learning echelon formation is rational, the library is comprehensive, there are many teaching facilities and there are great scientific research results within the Chinese Department. At the moment there are the two undergraduate majors Chinese Language and Literature Studies as well as Chinese as a Foreign Language.
In addition, there is also Chinese Language and Literature in the doctor program and Chinese Language and Literature as a first class discipline in Master's degree program. Amongst them, Chinese Language Philology is a national key discipline and Chinese Ancient Literature a key discipline on the province-level.
Since the reconstruction in 1958, there have been more than 200 graduate students, 20,000 adult education students. The number of doctor and graduate are nearly 300 people and more than 700 undergraduate students.

Applicants must hold equivalent degrees with good results, in good health and aged 18 or above. HSK-6 or above for art students.
