It was found in June, 2007, on the basis of combination and reform of the School of Medicine and the Department of Bio-pharmaceuticals in Jiangnan University. There are 2 departments of Nursing and Bio-pharmaceuticals in this school. At present, it covers a group of 52 high-qualified, professional faculties whose structure is exactly reasonable, including 36 full-time teachers, 8 professors, 14 assistant professors and 11 lecturers. There are 15 PhD among them. Besides, it also hires a group of famous scholars and experts who are capable of scientific teaching and sufficient experiences to be the part-time teachers of the school.
The school has owned space of 7200 square meters for teaching and learning, doing scientific research or doing official affairs. It can provide 21 related courses with more than 173 experiments as well. Moreover, it is composed of one master station of Microorganism and Bio-chemistry, 2 undergraduate courses of Nursing and Bio-pharmaceuticals. It enrolls over 180 full-time undergraduate students and about 20 postgraduate students each year.
As one of the principle member units of Wuxi Common Platform for Bio-Pharmaceuticals Technical Service, The Department of Bio-Pharmaceutics is constituted by 5 research divisions: Division of Molecular Pharmacology, Division of Pharmaceutical Engineering, Division of Pharmacokinetics, Division of Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Pharmaceutical Analysis and Division of Bioactive Natural Products & Pharmaceuticals. It totally possesses 1500 square meters of laboratories. The team members take charge or take part in 12 research projects, including some projects from 973 Program, 863 Program or NSF Program from Chinese Government. Many important efforts have been made in applying for National New Drug Certificate, National Invention Patent, completing projects consigned by enterprises, and publishing papers on national and international journals.
