The Information School of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law includes three departments of Computers Science and Technology, Statistics, and Information. It also includes research institutes for computer technology, statistics and investigation, national accounting, quantitative economics, and informational and computation science. It offers 4 majors, including Information Management, Quantitative Economics, Computer Application Technology, Regional Economics and 3 doctorate programs in Statistics, Regional Economics and Quantitative Economics. The School has 128 full time academic staffs, over 1400 undergraduates, 80 Masters and 20 PHD students.
Information Management and Information System is an applied discipline. It merges the knowledge, such as computer science, management science, system science, etc., solving all kinds of problems of management in the social system with the information technology. As one specialty, it was founded in 1979. It has published 22 works and teaching materials and over 400 theses, accomplished more than 60 research projects, and trained more than thousand talents.
The department of Statistics held the qualification to offer the Master degree and PHD in Statistics in 1981 and 1986 successively, The Statistics is accredited as key discipline at the provincial level in 1998. The department of Statistics has made great achievements in training talents, establishing disciplines and scientific research. It has formed the characteristics of training special foundation, focusing on the intercross of disciplines and refining in application research. The staff has published more than 35 textbooks and reference books, 18 monographs and translation of works, 380 these, accomplished 40 research projects, and trained more than 800 talents in the past decade.
