As one of the three mainstream disciplines of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, the discipline of jurisprudence originated from Zhongnan Institute of Politics and Law and the Law Department of Zhongnan University of Finance and Economics. Law School comprises eight departments: Theoretical Law, Constitution and Administrative Law, Criminal Law, Procedural Law, Civil and Commercial Law, Economic Law, International Law, International Economic Law, one teaching practice centre, and 12 research institute such as Research Center of Jurisprudence.
The School has 3 doctorate programs: Legal History, Constitutional Law, and Civil Law, 9 master’s programs of jurisprudence with the authority to confer JM degrees on more than 30 academic orientations. It has 4 key disciplines at the provincial level, namely, Civil and Commercial Law, Constitution and Administrative Law, Legal History, and Economic Law. There are 9 secondary subjects, namely, Legal Theory, Legal History, Constitution and Administrative Law, Criminal Law, Procedural Law, Civil and Commercial Law, Economic Law, Environment and Resources Protection Law, International Law. Professor Wu Handong has been elected into the Humanities and Social Science Committee of the Ministry of Education of China.
In the recent 5 years, the faculties have published 2100 theses in the authoritative and core journals such as China’s Social Science, Law Study, and Chinese Laws. They compiled more than 130 textbooks planned by the state, textbooks for nation-wide use, recommended textbooks, textbooks at the ministerial level, innovative textbooks, and so on. More than 110 monographs have been published.
The objective of the School is to build the school into the first-rate and research type law school with international prestige.

Application time
Applicants for degrees shall submit their application to International Education School of ZUEL prior to June 15 every year.
Entry requirements
For Bachelor’s degree: Applicants must have a senior middle school diploma, be above 18 years old, passed at least HSK- 6 (those who fail the HSK-6 must learn Chinese in the Intensive Chinese Course for International Students until their Chinese reaches the required level).
For master’s degree: Applicants must have bachelor's degree, be above 18 years old, and pass the entrance examination by ZUEL for master candidates and at least HSK-6 as well (those who fail the examination must learn Chinese in the Intensive Chinese Course for International Students until their Chinese reaches the required level) , a recommendation letter written by 2 professors.
For doctoral degree:Applicants must have master's degree, be above 18 years old, and pass entrance examination by ZUEL for doctoral candidates and at least HSK-6 as well (those who fail the examination must learn Chinese in the Intensive Chinese Course for International Students until their Chinese reaches the required level), a recommendation letter written by 2 professors.
Those who have a Primary C level (level 3 in HSK) may start their studies right away.
