Sun Yat-sen University Scholarship

Amount

1. Tuition : Waive.

2. Accommodation:  Free of charge (The successful candidates can only be arranged a bed in the Double room or  in the Four People’s Room).

3. Living expenses ：RMB1,700 per month for a M.A /M.S candidate and RMB2,000 Yuan for a Ph. D candidate.

4. Fees for textbooks:  RMB500 each person annually.

5. Medical insurance:  the same as the Chinese college students.

6. Round-trip Traveling Expenses: born by the candidates themselves.

Eligible Candidates

1.  An Applicant for the master’s degreeshould have a bachelor’s degree or have completed undergraduate programs，under  the age of 35and in good health. an applicant for the doctorate degreeshould be a master’s degree holder or have completed the postgraduate programs,under the age of 40 and in good health;

2.  The applicant should not be a college student in China at the time of application;3.The applicant must have good scientific research ability and good knowledge ofspecialized courses.

4．In principle, the applicants should have a relevant command of Chinese proficiency.Those who take the courses of sciences and technology or medical sciences in Chinese should have the certificate of HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) Level 3 or above（or New HSK Level 4, over 180 points）；Those who intend to major in liberal arts (major for Chinese language exclusive), economics, managerial science and international trade and who will receive class instruction in Chinese medium should have thecertificate of HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) Level 6 or above (or New HSK Level 5, over 180 points).  The HSK certificates will be exempt for those candidates who had received class instruction in Chinese medium and were graduated from the Chinese institutions of higher learning a few years ago.

5.  Those who will receive class instruction in Chinese medium but whose Chinese language proficiency has not met the requirements at the time of admission may apply for the Chinese training program for a year. During this period, scholarship will be provided.

6.  Those from English-speaking countries can apply for the study programs in English medium.

7.  The applicant must have the good behavior and have not any bad hobbies.

Application Requirements

Three years for both M.A /MS candidates and Ph. D candidates (the Chinese training exclusive).

Application Documents

1.  The notarized xerox copies of the certificates for the latest degree and graduation.

2． The notarized xerox copy of the transcript for the BA/BS or MA/MS ;

3.   A research plan for doctorate candidate；

4．Two references from two professors or associate professors;

5.   A xerox copy of the valid passport (Information page);

6.   A notarized xerox copy of the certificate for Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) for those who intend to study in Chinese.;

Application Procedures

Complete and submit the on-line application on the website of China Scholarship Council(CSC). After submission, please print the form out. The application will not be accepted by the CSC without the on-lined application.Website：http://laihua.csc.edu.cnThe procedure is as follows:

a, Register on the CSC website → Login

b, Fill in the Application Form: Select Application Form for the “Chinese Government Scholarship”

c, Put in the Personal Data (the first item of  “Agency No”  for Sun Yat-sen University is“10558”→ Put  in the other Data →Submit the Application Form on line.

d, Print out the completed form for two copies → Sign the Application Forms.

e, Send the printed application form (with your signature) to our university together with the other papers such as Diplomas and transcripts and so on before the deadline.

8. The Physical Examination Record For Foreigner (can be downloaded from the website：http: //www.csc.edu.cn  (for The China Scholarship Council - CSC).

9. Putting Sun Yat-sen University as first priority and possessing higher Chinese Proficiency would be an advantage.

10. No electronic edition for application materials are acceptable. All the application materials should be in two copies. Whether the candidates are accepted or not, all the application materials are not returned.
