Beidaihe Scenic Spot
Beidaihe Scenic Spot, located in the southwest of Qinhuangdao City, Hebei province, is a famous summer resort as well as a recreational resort in China. With a damp monsoon climate and four distinct seasons, neither too hot in summer nor too cold in winter, Beidaihe is suitable for all year round travel.
 
Beidaihe has three beaches, Middle Beach, which is actually many small beaches separated by rocky outcrops, is the most convenient and popular. West Beach is more of the same, but a little quieter. The beach is long enough for you to be able to find a spot where you can be alone. At low tide its golden sands are popular with rubber-booted seaweed collectors.
 
The long coastline and wide, sandy beaches of Beidaihe are a great place for sunning, swimming and relaxing. Lianfengshan Mountain, with its two peaks, overlooks the beach, and there is a park at its base called Lotus Stone Park. A small temple, Guanyin Temple, is located in the park. Seaside Pavilion and Yinjiao Pavilion provide a couple of lovely spots for viewing the sunrise.
 
In the central area of Beidaihe Scenic Spot is a great attraction called Tiger Rock Park. It has many huge rocks looking like a herd of tigers. Standing on any of the rocks gives you a deep enjoyment of the beauties of nature. The sea breeze pushing against your face, the waves beating the rocks and the vast sea will make you feel refreshed and energetic. This is a good spot for photography.

Beautiful Beaches
Of the three beaches, Middle Beach, really many small beaches with rocky outcrops in between, is the most convenient and popular. West Beach is more of the same, but a little quieter. The beach is long enough for you to be able to find a spot where you can be alone. At low tide its wide expanse is dotted with seaweed collectors in rubber boots.
 
Lianfeng Hill
The pine-covered Lianfeng Hill, which backs on to Beidaihe beach, comprises two peaks, the east peak and the west peak. Taking the secluded path you can reach Wanghai Ting (Seaside Pavilion) at the top of the hill, where you can best appreciate the vast sea and the scenery around the mountain. At the foot of Lianfeng Hill is a beautiful park named Lianhuashi (Lotus Stone Park) because of the many unexpectedly huge lotus shaped stones.
 
Eagle Horn Pavilion
There is a huge rock towering over the sea at the northeast end of the shore. It is on a nearby cliff and popularly called Ying jiaoshi (also known as Geziwo Pigeons' Nest). Here, one may see to the best advantage the sun rising over the sea.
 
Wanghai Pavilion
Built on the top of Lianfeng Hill, the pavilion affords a panoramic view of Beidaihe. From this pavilion, one can even see the harbor of Qinhuangdao and Jieshi Tablet Hill to the northwest.

Transportation
Train from Beijing (5hrs), Shenyang (5hrs), Tianjin (4hrs), Shanhaiguan (1hr) and Qinhuangdao (30mins) are available. There are minibuses connecting Beidaihe, Shanhaiguan, and Qinhuangdao. Public transportation is available on bus No.5 (Beidaihe Railway Station to the Middle Beach), and buses No.3 & 4 from Beidaihe to Shanhaiguan (Stops at Qinhuangdao in the way).
