Shanghai American School (SAS) is a dynamic and ever changing school. Since the early nineties, the parents, students and staff of Shanghai American School have worked together to transform a relatively small, yet developing program for 200 students into what is now a dynamic and sophisticated international school that serves 2,900 students from almost 40 countries.
School Strength
Shanghai American School is a private, non-profit, co-educational international school. The school is owned by the SAS Parent Association. Located on both sides of the sprawling city of Shanghai, the two SAS campuses serve as educational and cultural centers for much of the expatriate community in Shanghai.
The school has exceptional faculty and staff. The majority of the 373 teachers are from the U.S. and Canada. Over 60% of the teachers hold a Masters degree. The school's staff includes 11 counselors and 2 school psychologists. The Senior Administrative team has 10 members including the Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, 5 Principals, Director of Development, Communications, and Marketing, Curriculum Coordinator and Business Manager.
