Tianjin International School (TIS) was founded in 1985 to provide an American educational program for the children of MTI employees. Classes began in the fall of 1986 in temporary classrooms at the Tianjin Grand Hotel Conference Center.
The school moved to the Xing Guo Junior High School building in 1993. During the summer of 2000, TIS moved into the Sun Hope facility, a new building that provided much-needed room for expansions of its programs. Since that time the school has continued to grow and now rents the entire facility on a long-term basis. The current building contains room for the student body to expand by another 40 percent.
School Strength
All core curriculum teachers of TIS hold a Bachelors, Masters, or a teaching certificate in their respective fields and many are presently working on graduate degrees. TIS has teachers from five different countries.

WASC is an accrediting organization based in Burlingame, California, USA. TIS is also registered with the National Education Bureau and Tianjin Education Bureau and are a member of the East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS).
