The School of Civil Engineering (SCE) of Beijing Jiaotong University was founded in 1996. Its predecessor was the Department of Construction of the Beijing Railway College founded in 1956. The scale of SCE is expanding and the comprehensive education conditions are becoming increasingly better. At present, SCE has 2,500 registered students, including 1914 bachelor students, 394 master students and 188 doctorate candidates. SCE has undertaken the task of education for international students and adult education.
Through 50 years’ development, SCE has become a comprehensive school with three departments and five institutes: the Department of Civil Engineering, the Department of Municipal & Environmental Engineering, the Institute of Bridge & Disaster Mitigation, the Institute of Structural Engineering, the Institute of Tunnel & Geotechnical Engineering, the Institute of Roadway & Railway Engineering & Environmental Engineering and the Institute of Engineering Mechanics. There are also such organizations as the Institute of Construction Survey & Design and so on.
In the education of undergraduates, SCE is qualified for conferring Bachelor’s degrees in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Artistic Design and Environment Engineering. In the education of post-graduates, SCE is qualified for conferring Doctoral degrees of disciplines in Civil Engineering and Traffic & Transportation Engineering, and for the 13 majors of Solid Mechanics, Engineering Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Disaster Reduction & Structural Protection Engineering, Bridge & Tunnel Engineering, Municipal Engineering, Road & Railway Engineering, Heat & Gas Supply & Ventilation Engineering, Underground Engineering, Environmental Geotechnical Engineering, Hydro-geology & Engineering Geology, and Urban Track Engineering.
In the past 50 years, SCE has educated 8000 undergraduate and postgraduate students, brought up a large number of top-class technologists for the country, and made important contribution to the construction of railway and the development of the country.

Requirements for Admission
The students applying for the Bachelor’s degree must hold the high school diploma, health certificate, 8 photos and HSK 4 certificate.
The students applying for Master’s and Doctoral degree should specially prepare the equivalent diploma and two recommendation letters from associate professors or above.
