Dalian, compared to ancient capital cities such as Beijing, Xian, Nanjing or Luoyang, is a young city with only a 100-year history.
Location:Situated at the tip of China's Liaodong Peninsular, it is a trading and financial center in northeastern Asia and has gained the name the "Hong Kong of Northern China".

Climate:The weather in Dalian is primarily on the moderate side. In the North Hemisphere, Dalian falls in the zone which is moderately tempered. The climate is characterized by a typical nautical climate. One of the main characteristics of this Dalian climate is that it is influenced by temperate continental monsoon climate. Dalian is a city that is mainly set among mountains. Chang Baishan Mountain system's Qianshan Mountain range, which stretches from north to south, plays a key role in shaping the weather pattern of the city. All the four seasons make their presence felt. The weather here is neither gets too hot during the summers nor is too cold in the winters. The average temperature usually hovers around 10.5°C.

Xinghai Park
Xinghai Park is situated on the southwestern side of Dalian City and borders Xinghai Bay from which it takes its name. Some 800 meters (just under half a mile) in length, the park has luxuriant trees and flowers on the landward side while the coastal side comprises a beach of golden sands.The park attracts many visitors as it is a haven of tranquility as well as offering excellent facilities for bathing from its safe beach where the water is neither too deep nor subject to other than moderate waves. As well as the natural beauty of the park the visitors will be drawn to the architectural delights of the Qile Pavilion, Wanghai Pavilion and Yingchao Pavilion that are connected by cobblestone footpaths.

Also known as "Port Arthur", it occupies the west end of Dalian City and the south edge of the Liaodong Peninsula, surrounded by sea on three sides. In this advantaged geographical position, it is a beautiful tourist city zone with a long history. From the time of the Eastern Jin Dynasty (317-420), it was of strategic military importance and up until the Liao Dynasty (916-1125), it was known as Shizikou (Lion Port). It was during the Ming Dynasty that it was given its present name "Lushun", which expresses a wish for "plain sailing and a favorable voyage". In 1894 during the Sino-Japanese War the Japanese army captured Lushun and massacred many of its people. The area suffered again in 1904 when it became a major battlefield during the Russo-Japanese War. Lushan then endured Japanese rule for more than 40 years following the surrender of the Russian forces. It was not until the Soviet Union disarmed them in 1945, that Lushun was returned to motherland once more. Through half a century, it came to earn recognition as an "open air museum of historical and cultural scenery".
