Guangzhou University of TCM Acupuncture and Massage (original Guangzhou Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture), which was approved by the state administration of traditional Chinese medicine on March 8, 1999, was founded on April 15, 1999.
The College now has three departments including: Acupuncture and Massage of Chinese medicine (current five-year undergraduate, vocational three-year college) the seven-year TCM acupuncture direction (international), rehabilitation (four-year undergraduate). Acupuncture and massage professional stage into three directions: acupuncture massage, rehabilitation and Chinese beauty. In 2004, acupuncture and massage professional was assessed as Guangdong province’s famous-brand professional disciplines and acupuncture and massage is a key subject in Guangdong province.
The college has founded six research and study centers: acupuncture and moxibustion, massage, and experiment teaching and so on. There are 49 teachers now. And among them, 16 persons are with senior titles, while also16 teachers are with vice-senior titles. There are 7 teachers with intermediate titles and 10 with junior titles. It owns 12 master tutors and 8 tutors of PhD students.
The college has established Pharmacy resource chemistry, International Chinese Veterinary Medicine, Modern Biological Medicine Research Institute and Drug Testing Center.
The SCE has established wide cooperative relationships with many foreign universities, institutions and corporations too.
