The College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering is one of the first established colleges of the Harbin Engineering University.
The College offers 2 undergraduate programs, including Mechanical Design Manufacture and its Automation, and Industry Design (Science and Engineering). It has been authorized to award master's degrees in Mechanical Design and Theory, Mechanical Manufacture and its Automation, Techtronic Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, and Artistic Design; it can also confers 2 doctoral degrees in Techtronic Engineering, and Mechanical Design and Theory.
The College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering has competitive faculty. There are 115 staff, 18 professors (including 9 doctoral advisors), and 28 associate professors. For many years, this college has been undertaking many science researches, including the projects under the '863 National Project', some supported by the National Natural Science Fund, and several provincial and ministerial key projects. So far, the number of the undergraduates and graduate students of the college is over 2,000 people.
In teaching field, their aim is to enhance the teaching quality and to cultivate the students’ comprehensive abilities. By untiring exploring and carrying out various educational reforms, they made excellent achievements. The faculty has gained substantial achievements for research, and won more than 80 national and provincial prizes. The faculty has published more than 860 papers and 55 academic monographs published in home and abroad. This college owns a complete set of experiment equipments and grasps advanced testing methods, in which the Advanced Production Technology Lab is the training base for the national CAD training network. In the '211 Project', its two disciplines have gained the support as a national key constructing project.
They try to promote diversity and international exposure. They have significant collaboration with the universities in USA. Their students are selected to universities in Taiwan, Italy, and Poland etc. Professors from Taiwan, America, Germany, Canada, England, and Japan have been invited to give lectures and some of them are their guest-professors now.
