The predecessor of the College of Basic Medical Sciences was the Basic Medical Sciences Department of Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine which was founded in April, 1972. In July, 1997, it was renamed as the current name. Currently, there are 18 teaching and research sections and 105 teaching and administrative staffs at this college. Of all the teachers, 24 are doctors, 11 are post doctorates, 1 is distinguished professor, 1 is visiting professor and 4 are provincial visiting professors.
This college undertakes 42 kinds of basic courses, required courses and selected courses of the whole university. It also undertakes 13 kinds of optional courses. And it has won lots of teaching achievement awards, in which, 1 is state-level first prize, 1 is state-level second prize, 4 are Fok Ying Tung Education Foundation third prize, 4 are provincial level excellent teaching achievement award first prize, 35 are university-level teaching achievement awards.
College of Basic Medical Sciences has 1 state-level key discipline, 1 key discipline of state administration of traditional Chinese medicine and 5 are provincial level key disciplines. Besides, it has a third-level key laboratory of national Chinese medicine and 1 provincial level key laboratory. This college has 5 doctoral programs and 7 master’s programs. There are 17 doctoral tutors and 37 master’s tutors at this college. Currently, there are 2 traditional Chinese medicine doctors who are China top 100 outstanding youth, 4 are famous Chinese medicine doctors of Heilongjiang Province, 5 are famous Chinese medicine doctors of the university, etc. Besides, it has cultivated many excellent young and middle-aged traditional Chinese medicine doctors. It also has a subordinate traditional Chinese medicine clinic.
Since 1996, College of Basic Medical Sciences has successfully bid over 400 scientific research projects. The total research funding amounts to over 7 million yuan. 93 of the projects have won awards, in which, 1 is third prize of China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy, 4 are second prize at provincial level, etc. Currently, it is in charge of over 150 scientific research projects which are at university-level or above. And it is in charge of 10 projects which are at national bureau-level or above.
