A Letter from the President: Welcome to Northwestern Polytechnical Univeity (NPU). It is my pleasure to extend greetings on behalf of the univeity, our faculty, staff and students, and to invite you to explore on our website the breadth and depth of our outstanding ititution. NPU is located in the ancient capital city of Xi&quo;an, a historical place that has nurtured the civilizatio of 13 dynasties such as Zhou, Qin, Han and Tang. NPU was founded in 1938 in Hanzhong and moved to Xi&quo;an in October 1957 by combining the Northwest Ititute of Engineering with the East China Ititute of Aeronautics. Later in 1970, the Department of Aeronautics of Harbin Ititute of Engineering merged with the univeity. Outstanding Achievements: There are 20 schools now which set 54 bachelor programs, 101 master degree programs and 57 Ph.D. programs. 6 national key laboratories, 4 national specialized laboratories, 2 engineering research cente and 26 provincial key laboratories are here. Since the year 1938 in which the univeity was set up, it has produced many 33 PhDs or professo have won the Humboldt Research Fellowship. Introduction to NPU: Northwestern Polytechnical Univeity (NPU) is located in ancient capital city of Xi'an. NPU is China's only research-oriented, multi-disciplinary, and international univeity of science and technology, which simultaneously excels at aeronautics, astronautics, and marine technology. The univeity emphasizes science and technology, while harmoniously developing the fields of management, humanities, economics, and law.
