Department of Applied Social Science of Northwest was founded in 1993. There are a lot of excellent experts teaching here.
There are 50 staff members, including 8 professors, 15 associate professors and 17 lecturers. Now they have 428 full time undergraduate students, 110 master students.
There are one doctoral program, eleven master’s programs, including Modern History of China, Sociology, Chinese Philosophy, Science Philosophy and Theory of Marxism and five bachelor’s programs: Philosophy, Finance, Social Work, Ideological and Political Education and International Politics.
The number of papers published by philosophers in the department comes out top at Northwest University. There has been papers (written by their scholars) published every year in SCI or SSCI or A&HCI responded journals.
They also try to promote diversity and international exposure. The department has also established wide cooperative relationships with many foreign universities and institutions and corporations.

Entry requirements
For undergraduate students: A diploma from an accredited high school; and a pass score in HSK (Band 3).
For graduate (MA) students: An equivalent of Chinese Bachelor’s degree or higher; a pass score in HSK (Band 6); a minimum of two recommendation letters from persons with knowledge of the applicants’ ability and expertise; and a qualified score in the graduate entrance examination.
