School of Economics and Management was founded in 1985. Its predecessor is the Department of Northwest University. Now, there are over 1400 bachelor students, 515 master students and 51 doctor students. The School of Economics and Management has an excellent faculty, modern teaching facilities and fine education tradition. Most of the teachers have a PhD or a Master’s degree in the relevant field.
Extensive academic exchanges, outstanding social service, and all these make the school become renowned inside and outside the country. Now the school comprises of the following departments including Department of Economics, Department of Finance & Trade, Department of Business Administration, Department of Tourism Management, Department of Accounting, and Department of Business Information.
Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the school has educated more than over 1500 graduates for the nation, and most of them have become the professional, academic and administrative backbone of the country, fulfilling leading roles in different regions and sectors. The school was once praised as “the Cradle of Economists”.
The school has carry out over 80 research projects of national importance each year, including “the 863 Project”, “the 973 Project”, “the Summit-Scaling Project”. Since China’s reforms and opening to the outside world in 1978, the faculty has won over 800 awards for research achievements and published over 3000 academic papers and 150 books.
The school pays close attention to international exchange and cooperation, and has established collaborative relationship with nearly 30 institutions of higher learning and research in foreign countries. The exchange and cooperation, covering various areas of study, have contributed to the rise of the school’s academic level and international renown.
