The Law School of Renmin University of China, founded in 1950, is the first regular higher legal education organization created after the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Chaoyang University, which was founded in 1912 merged with the Law School of Renmin University of China. It was titled at the same time as "the Most Excellent Law Academy in China," and is known by the saying "Chaoyang in north, Dongwu in south," "there are no courts without Chaoyang" in the history of legal education of modern China.
As one of the institutes in China qualified to confer LL.D. degrees for all legal majors, the School of Law of Renmin University of China has formed a comprehensive legal education system for the nurturing of legal talents. Moreover, the LL.D. and LL.M subjects have covered all the secondary law-major disciplines. The law school accommodates three National Key disciplines in the field of law (constitutional and administrative, criminal law and civil and commercial law) and the first State Council approved post-doctorate research center in China (including all doctoral subjects). It also has a bachelor degree program (jurisprudence), a secondary bachelor program (intellectual property) and a masters program (law).
Currently the School of Law has a faculty of over 50 professors and academic supervisors for LL.D. candidates. It has a member of the Discipline Evaluation Subcommittee of Academic Degree Commission of the State Council, and a Yangtze academic organization. The faculty has published more than 1,000 treatises and several thousand articles. As for the number of national reach programs and awards, the School of Law tops China's higher legal education institutions. In addition, the School of Law has invited some 60 pre-eminent international jurists and important domestic figures in the legal community to join the faculty as honorable (guest, adjunct) professors.
Since 1950, more than 10,000 students have graduated from the law school, while more than 300,000. Have received training from the Law School. A good number of graduates have become the backbone of China's various legislatures, judicial bodies, the legal research institutes and eminent jurists. At present, nearly 3,000 students are studying at the School of Law, most of whom are post-graduates. The undergraduates account for 20% of the student population.

Application time
The RUC's enrollment period is in the fall term. In the spring term, the RUC will enroll a small number of advanced students, and a small number of those wanting to study Chinese as foreign language. The fall term begins on September 1st and the spring term begins in the latter half of February.
All application materials for students wishing to enroll in the fall must be received by RUC before the end of May. All application materials for students wishing to enroll in the spring must be received by RUC before the end of December.
Entry Requirement
Bachelor programs: Senior-high school graduates with honor. Pass level 6 of the HSK Test (Chinese Proficiency Test) and the RUC entrance exams for prospective undergraduates.
Master's programs: Bachelor’s degree with honors. Pass level 7 of the HSK Test and the RUC entrance examinations for prospective postgraduates. Two letters of recommendation from associate professors or higher.
Doctoral programs: Master’s degree. Pass level 7 of the HSK Test and the RUC entrance exams for prospective doctoral students. Two letters of recommendation from professors.
