The School of Mechanical Engineering was established in 1999. Its predecessor is College of Mechanical Engineering of Tangshan Road University. It is renamed into the School of Mechanical Engineering in 1972 when it moved to Emei, Sichuan Province.
The school has 191 faculty members including 41 full professors, 55 associate professors. There are 76 teachers with Doctoral degree and 3 discipline leaders in Sichuan province. Currently there are 2993 undergraduates and 581master students.
The school provides six Bachelor’s programs in Machine Design &Manufacturing and Their Automation, Car Engineering, Thermal Energy and Power Engineering, Industrial Engineering and so on. They also offer 10 Master’s programs in Mechanical Manufacture & Automation, Mechatronic Engineering, Mechanical Design & Theory,and Car Engineering etc. It offers 5 doctoral programs including Mechanical Manufacture and Automation, Mechatronic Engineering, Mechanical Design & Theory,Car Engineering, Industrial Design.
The school is undertaking more than 100 research projects. Some research projects have been awarded with national and provincial Scientific Advances Awards, international patents and China patents, and some technologies have been commercialized. Annually hundreds of research papers are published in international renowned journals.
The school has a lot of distinguished alumni, including members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, industry leaders, educationists, and renowned scientists in the fields such as satellite remote control, electrical network theory.
