SWU College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, a newly-established group on the 30th of April, 2006 after the merging of former Southwest Normal University and Southwest Agricultural University. There are 55 faculty and staff members, and among whom 6 professors, and 17 associate professors and 23 other researchers.
The college occupies an area of more than 5000 m2 with teaching and experimental apparatus worth of 11 millions. It has become an experimental center for pharmacy, pharmaceutical engineering and other relevant disciplines, and also a scientific research base for postgraduate education. It has established more than 10 practice sites outside of the University.
The college consists of 4 research facilities including Pharmacy, Biological pharmaceuticals, Chemical pharmaceuticals, and Traditional Chinese Pharmacy, and a Model Center forPharmaceutical Experimental Teaching Center. The college has 3 Ph D supervisors and 12 master mentors, and has been authorized to confer Master’s and Ph D Degrees in 8 disciplines. By the end of 2006, the college has enrolled around 776 undergraduates and 75 MA and Ph.D. candidate.
The college has established Pharmacy resource chemistry, International Chinese Veterinary Medicine, Modern Biological Medicine Research Institute and Drug Testing Center. To date, one of the teachers being the recipient of the CAS Young Talented Award, teachers of the College have obtained 3 projects of Chinese National Natural Science Foundation, 1 sub-project of the 973 Project, 7 projects at provincial level, and 5 transverse projects. They have obtained over 4 millions research fund, owned 7 patented inventions and utility models, and publish over 50 original research articles per year, 20 of which have been embodied in SCI. Some of their efforts have earned numerous provincial and ministry awards.
The SCE has established wide cooperative relationships with many foreign universities, institutions and corporations.

Requirements for Admission
Undergraduate Program: The applicants should have had senior high school education and enjoy good health. Students are required to complete the curriculum in 4 years and fulfill the designated number of credits. Qualified graduates will receive a graduation certificate along with the bachelor’s degree, according to the regulation of the Degree Committee.
Master’s Program: The applicants should submit the certificates of bachelor’s degree and two letters of recommendation from two professors, or associate professors, or scholars with equivalent academic titles, so as to be checked for enrollment. The applicants should be in good health and are required to complete the curriculum between 2-3 years, fulfill the designated number of credits, complete the master’s thesis and defend it in front of a panel of experts. Qualified graduates will receive a graduation certificate along with the Master’s Degree in accordance with the regulation of the Degree Committee.
Doctoral Program: The applicants should submit the certificate of master’s degree and two letters of recommendation from two professors, or associate professors, or scholars with equivalent academic titles, so as to be checked for enrollment. The applicants should be in good health and are required to complete the curriculum between 3-6 years (in normal circumstances), fulfill the designated number of credits, conduct research, complete the doctoral thesis and defend it in front of a panel of experts. Successful graduates will receive a graduation certificate with the doctoral degree in accordance with the regulation of the Degree Committee.
