The School of Humanities & Social Science of University of Science & Technology of China (USTC), was formally established with the approval of Chinese Academy of Science in November, 2000. The establishment of the School is an important step in the process of USTC creating a world famous university of high levels. It means that USTC is capable of cultivating high level and high-qualified talents of Science & technology, which is also an important measure to comply with the higher education of the world and step to carry out the party’s educational policy, promoting the comprehensive quality-education. The School will play an irreplaceable role in the construction of academics.
At present, it covers a total number of more than 220 faculties, including 25 professors and over 80 associate professors. The current president Liu Dun is the head of Chinese Academy of Science in History of China Science & Technology. Meanwhile, he is the department head of History of Science & Technology and Archeology of Science & Technology. The School consists of 3 programs for Bachelor’s degree, including Mass Communication, English and Archaometry, one key discipline of History of Science & Technology, 10 programs for Master’s degree, and 3 programs for Doctoral degree, including Media Management, Scientific Philosophy and History of Science & Technology. Most of students cultivated in the doctoral station of History of Science & Technology have now become the backbone of China's science and technology research and teaching.
On the base of large field and interdisciplinary, the School attaches great importance on cultivating newly comprehensive talents which are exactly needed at home and abroad. What’s more, it pays attention to establish wide relationships with domestic and international contemporaries in academic exchange.

Application time
For Degree applicants, the deadline for application is June 15 for autumn semester, January 15 for spring semester. Degree students shall arrive before September 1st for fall semester and before March 1st for spring semester.
Entry requirements
For Bachelor’s degree: the applicants should have senior high school diploma, under the age of 28, health certificate and HSK5 certificate.
For Master’s degree: the applicants should have Bachelor’s degree, recommended by two associate professors or above, under the age of 35, health certificate and HSK6 certificate.
For Doctoral degree:the applicants should have Master’s degree, under the age of 40, recommended by two associate professors or above, health certificate and HSK6 certificate.
