School of Traditional Chinese Medicine was founded in 1978, is the only school that can raise the high-qualified Chinese medicine talented personnel. In 2002 it became the second-level Institute of Capital Medicine University. The school presently supposes two centers, namely the department of medical science, and the department of pharmacy and teaching scientific research experiment center.
Nowadays, the school has graduate students, undergraduate students, higher education for adults and many other kinds of school levels. Simultaneously there are two first-level discipline master's degree authorization spot of traditional Chinese medicine and traditional Chinese pharmacology. And recruits graduate students in the direction of Chinese medicine clinical foundation, Chinese medicine history literature, Chinese medicine diagnostics, Fang Ji study and the traditional Chinese pharmacology. The undergraduate course education is equipped with the traditional Chinese medicine and the traditional Chinese pharmacology 2 specialties. The duty of the undergraduate course education is developing the Chinese medicine specialized education, improving the recruitment of students quality, implementing the tutorial system. There are existing students 600 people, teaching and administrative staff 67 people, professional teachers 50 people and associate professors, deputy chief physicians, lecturers, doctors for 18 people.
The School pays more attention on the scientific research in Chinese medicine discipline construction. In the two first-level disciplines of traditional Chinese medicine and traditional Chinese pharmacology , the Chinese medicine clinical foundation study is the superiority discipline, the Chinese medicine history literature discipline is the characteristic discipline, the codex pharmacy for the construct with proper priority discipline, the clinical traditional Chinese pharmacology for the key support discipline, others are the education essential discipline. And it has formulated 4 second-level discipline constructions of “a superior especially key support” as the key discipline developmental strategy.
In recent years, the School widely carried out the foreign exchange program, many national and the local scholars and experts came the School for lecture visiting, and successively established a friendly cooperation with Japan, US, Canada, Brazil, Israel, Taiwan, Hong Kong teaching institutes and medical units. Meanwhile, the School also sent the experts and scholars to go abroad for many times to bring honor to the Chinese medicine culture. At present the entire courtyard teachers and students are uniting as one by the full enthusiasm, go all out, to realize the goal of Capital Medical University: “domestic first-class, world famous”.

Entry Requirements
Undergraduates: Aged 18 to 40; Senior high school graduates or those with the same or above level; HSK Level 5 or above. Those who are under the requirements of CMU for mathematics, physics, chemistry and HSK can attend the Preparatory Program for one year before their undergraduate studies.
Master candidates: Aged 18 to 40; Bachelor’s degree; HSK Level 7 or above; 2 recommendation letters from two (associate) professors; in good health.
Doctoral candidates: Aged 18 to 40; Master’s degree; HSK Level 7 or above; 2 recommendation letters from two (associate) professors; in good health.
