Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive in Chengdu from HK by air. Meet and transfer to check in at hotel after dinner.
Day 2
Fly to Lhasa by air in the morning. After lunch, visit Sera Monasetery and Norbulingka Palace in the afternoon. The Norbulingka Palace situated in western suburbs of Lhasa. It was first built in 1740’s, after 200 years’ enlargement, now the Palace occupies a total area of 360 thousand square meters, with 374 rooms. The palace is now the biggest garden with most historical spots.
Day 3
View in the city and visit Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkrol Street. The Since the seventh century AD, the Potala Palace has been a resident place of the Dalai Lama and the political and religious center of Tibet. Now it is the world's highest building group with ancient castle-style. Situated in the old city of Lhasa, the Jokhang Temple is the Tibetan Buddhist Center and the Tibetan Buddhism's Holy Land in hearts of the followers. Then shop in Barkrol Street, where you can buy various kinds of handicrafts with strong national characteristics.
Day 4
Drive to visit the beautiful Lasa-yamdrok Lake (2 hours). Then visit Petrol Monastery and drive to Shigatse. (2 hours) Shigatse is an old city with a long history of 500 years and the political and cultural center of post-Tibet; moreover, it is the residence place of all the Panchen Lama. Day 5
Tour in Shigatse. Visit Tashilunbu Monastery. Then drive to Tingri (about 5 hour). Mountains in Tingri County are attached to Himalalyas. The Snow Mountains overlaps one after another and formed scenery with breath-catching beauty. On the border of Qudang village and Nepol stands the Mountain Qomolangma, which is the highest peak in the world. All these mountains make the county an ideal place for tourism and exploration.
Day 6
Visit Tingri. Drive to the Mt.Everest Base Camp (2 hours). After sightseeing, drive back to Tingri. Everest base camp was established in order to protect the core area of Everest and the environmental protection zone. It located at 5200 meters above sea level, with about 19 kilometers straight-line distance from the summit of Mount Qomolangma. There is a tent for mountain climbers and tourists, including hotels, cafes, and shops. Climbers can take a rest at the base camp and then continue to climb the Qomolangma.
Day 7
Drive to Zhangmu border after breakfast (about 9 hours). Check in at Zhangmu Hotel.
Day 8
Go through the customs to go to Nepol.
