The School of Public Health traces its origin from the Department of Public Health of National Jiangsu Medical College founded in 1940. With the development for more than 60 years, the school has now established 1 center for postdoctoral program in Public Health and Preventive Medicine, 3 Ph.D. programs and 6 MS programs as well. So far, there are over 100 faculties and staffs working in the school, and about half of them obtain professor and associate professor. In addition, about 120 students in Ph.D. and M.S. programs, 170 students in MPH program, and 500 undergraduates study in the school.
At present, the school has 1 key Lab of Moden Toxicology (Co-established by the Ministry of Education and Jiangsu province), 1 provincial key discipline (Occupational & Environmental Hygiene), 2 provincial key laboratories (Applied Toxicology, Safety Assessments & Research Center of Drugs, Pesticides and Veterinary Drugs), 2 university key disciplines (Epidemiology & Biostatistics, Nutrition & Food Hygiene), 1 Center for Hygiene Analysis and Detection. Currently, the school received 1 national foundation for excellent youth, 4 sub-grants of national 973 programs and 24 national natural science foundation (NSFC) projects. It is also offering public services on safety assessment & evaluation on health food and drugs which have achieved both social and economic benefits.

Application Time
For international students, the academic year begins in September. The duration for application is from March 1st to June 30th.
Entry Requirements
Undergraduates: Finished high school studies, aged under 30 and healthy. Besides the applicants that follow the existing agreements, others have to apply for the admission. Applicants that failed to pass HSK have to study Chinese language before entering their major studies. Applicants that choose studies in English medium are required to pass HSK (band 3) before the graduation.
Master candidates: Aged under 40 and healthy. Applicants are required to submit their Bachelor’s Degree, academic transcript, and letters of recommendation from two professors. Admissions will be granted to the applicants that passing the inspection of the corresponding professors and departments. Thesis preparation can proceed only after the completion of one-year study and passing all examinations. Students that failed to pass the examinations can either transfer to study programs for advanced studies or terminate the studies with a certificate of completing the courses.
Doctor candidates: Aged under 40 and healthy. Applicants are required to submit their Master’s Degree, graduation thesis, academic transcript, and letters of recommendation from two professors. Admissions will be granted to the applicants that passing the inspection of the corresponding professors and departments. Doctoral degree candidates will be offered a certificate of completing courses if not eligible for further studies.
