The predecessor of School of Art was the Chinese Subject of Anhui University founded in 1928. It was the oldest school among the colleges and universities of Anhui Province. Currently, the School of Art has two departments (Chinese and journalism), 3 research institutes and 6 undergraduate programs, such as Chinese language and literature, journalism, advertising, etc. It was also authorized to confer the doctoral degree of classical Chinese literature, the master degree of Chinese literature, and other 10 masters’ degrees like classical Chinese literature, Chinese Philology, modern and contemporary Chinese literature, etc.
The School of Art has powerful teaching force and it has always been a school with the strongest strength in Anhui University. Currently, it has 147 teaching and administrative staff, in which, 26 are professors, 5 are doctoral tutors, 51 are master tutors and 39 are associate professors. In recent years, it has undertaken over 10 national-level scientific research items, over 50 provincial and ministerial level projects. Besides, it has published over 150 monographs, over 2,000 academic dissertations, in which, over 200 are published in foreign magazines and national level key periodicals.
Since 2000, the School of Art has strengthened the foreign academic exchange. And it has established cultural education exchange relations with the universities of many countries, such as America, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Turkey, etc. Besides, it has hosted the 13th national scientific seminar of “romance of the three kingdoms”, the 11th nationwide contemporary Chinese grammar colloquium, etc. And it has promoted the discipline construction and academic development.
The undergraduate students and the graduate students of the School of Art are of high-quality. They have won the praise from various circles of society. The students graduated from this school play a very important role in nationwide key universities and scientific research institutions.
