The School of Acupuncture and Massage has a long history and profound accumulation. It was established in 1956. After over 40 years’ development, it is now a key center for the teaching of acupuncture and massage, scientific research and medical treatment in China.
Currently, the School of Acupuncture and Massage has the professions of acupuncture and massage, rehabilitation therapy, traditional Chinese medicine (geratology field), 7-year traditional Chinese medicine (acupuncture English field), etc. There are over 800 undergraduate and junior college students, over 50 master and doctoral students at the institute now. The acupuncture and massage major was one of the earliest units to have the right to confer master and doctoral degrees. And it has cultivated the first foreign doctor of China.
In recent five years, the School of Acupuncture and Massage has undertaken over 50 scientific research projects, including national 7th 5-year plan, 8th 5-year plan, 9th 5-year plan and other provincial and ministerial level projects. It has won lots of prizes, such as national progress prize in science and technology, national scientific conference award and Sichuan progress prizes in science and technology. Now, it is undertaking 6 scientific research projects which are financed by national natural sciences fund, over 30 provincial and ministerial projects and 3 international cooperative projects. The total fund of the projects amounts to over 5 million yuan. This institute also has 8-million yuan teaching and scientific research equipments. It was one of the first batch of Sichuan key disciplines, Sichuan key talents training bases, etc. And it has worked as an editor for many textbooks, such as acupuncture science, acupuncture therapeutics, experimental acupuncture science, etc.
The School of Acupuncture and Massage is a key international education base in the southwest region. It is an important window for the foreign exchanges of the university. This institute recruits foreign students to study for bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and doctoral degree every year. And it has provided nearly 100 acupuncture and massage training courses for all countries and regions in the world. It has cultivated over 2,000 overseas students. And it receives over 1,000 foreigners to come for a visit every year.

Entry Requirements
Undergraduates: The applicant provides the high school certificate and the academic records, with the Certificate of Band-5 in Chinese Proficiency Exam (HSK). If the Chinese is not up to the requirement (HSK-5), learning Chinese for one or two years in China is required.
Master candidates: College graduate, recommendation of two vice-professors or with titles above, having passed tests; or graduating as an undergraduate in China in the same year, excellent in course, recommended to be admitted without entrance examinations. At least Grade C qualification of Chinese Proficiency Exam (HSK) is necessary.
Doctor candidates: Postgraduate, recommended by more than two vice-professors, entrance tests passed. At least Grade C qualification of Chinese Proficiency Exam (HSK) is necessary.
