School of Civil Engineering and architecture of Central South University was established in 1953. Its predecessor is the Departments of Railway Construction and Bridge & Tunnel in the Middle-Central Civil Engineering Architecture College. After over 50 years’ developments, the school owns outstanding faculty members. Currently, there are over 300 teachers including 2 academicians, 17 supervisors of doctoral candidates, 40 professors and 63 associate professors. Now there are over 3600 bachelor students and nearly 1000 graduate students.
The school has 9 departments which are the Department of Bridge Construction, Department of Tunnel Construction, Department of Road & Railway Construction, Department of Building Engineering, and Department of Geotechnical Engineering and so on. It offers 12 Doctoral programs including Municipal Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Mechanics Engineering, and Structural Engineering and so on. Also there are 16 Master’s program are offered in this school.
It has achieved over 732 scientific research items since 1978, including over 65 national key problems to be tackled in science and technology items. The total costs for scientific research were more than 200 million Yuan. The school also got one national science and technology progress top grade award, five second awards and third awards. There have been over 13 monographs and 2600 scientific papers published since 1990. Presently, it has one national key disciplinary area on Bridge & Tunnel Construction.
The school has cooperation relationship with over 15 universities and institutions of U.S.A, Japan, Australia, Britain, Sweden, Canada, Russia, etc. More than 100 people have joined the international academic conferences or given lectures aboard, and several professors were the executive president in plenary meetings since 1980.

The application time is from April to July every year.
Requirements for Admission
The applicants must prepare the application form, academic certificate, score transcript, copy of passport, health certificate and the HSK 3 certificate. The students applying for Master’s and Doctoral degree must hold 2 recommendation letters from associate professors or above.
