1.Chinese government scholarship students (CSC Student) areevaluated and enrolled by China Scholarship Council (CSC), then accepted by ChinaUniversity of Geosciences, one of the assigned key universities for CSCStudent. During their stay, the students should abide by the laws and theregulations implemented both in China and China University of Geosciences.
2.The students are enrolled for advanced programs or degree studies. They canenjoy a maximum of seven-year study in China.
3.The students are administrated and managed in a cooperative management systemboth by Overseas Student Affairs Office(OSAO) and home colleges:
A.OSAO is supposed to provide the 6 main services mentioned below.
a.New semester registration for the students（No.1017 Office）
b.Visa/ Residence Permit application and extension; Off-campus livingadministration and control（No.1017Office）
c.Coordination with Finance Office for living allowance transaction（No.1019 Office）
d.Implementation of Annual Evaluation for required CSC Student; Instruction forCSC Student who once finishes an one-year Chinese study and soon transfer intothe major study（No.1019 Office）
e.Assistance and coordination with changes of study major, duration anduniversity（No.1019 Office）
f.Coordination with CSC for return ticket purchase for appointed graduates（No.1019 Office）
B.The home colleges are supposed to provide relevant services and formalitieswhen the students have their registration there, including Student ID andE-card delivery, teaching material purchase, course information announcementand orientation organization, ect.. Relevant Academic affairs offices areresponsible for any enquiry or requirement on academic study as well asadministration of student statuses.
4.The students are supposed to fully or partially enjoy privileges incompliance with relevant regulations and standards on tuition payment,accommodation fee exemption, insurance program purchase,ect. And they shouldbear the expense brought about during their stay in China, if there is nowaiver on it.
5.The students are supposed to accommodate on campus. Relevant housing officeswill arrange and reserve required rooms in accordance with their student types.The students can directly check in under the instruction mentioned in theiradmission batch. Students with a waiver on accommodation are still supposed topay for the fees if arriving in advance.
A.For students who join in a more-than-one-year study program, they aresupposed to go through an annual evaluation as required by CSC. The evaluationis held by China University of Geosciences in the last 2 weeks of May. CSC willforward the final result in July which may decide whether a CSC student can gethis/her qualification of next year. Further information will be gained inChapter XVI.
B.For students who are required to take a one-year Chinese language studybefore major study, they should obtain HSK Certificate with accorded band orpass the final test for their Chinese language proficiency organized by ChinaUniversity of Geosciences. After getting an approval from home majors, they areallowed to complete registrations of major study in OSAO and home college. Forthose who are not qualified after finishing the one-year study, they can applyfor a transition major study based on a precondition that they shall obtain HSKCertificate with accorded band or pass the final test for their Chineselanguage proficiency organized by China University of Geosciences during theirmajor studies. Otherwise, their study in China will be terminated.
C.For students who have their academic study in Chinese, they should bring upan application for Chinese Language study to OSAO, which would forward it toOverseas Education College (OEC). Only with the approval of OEC can they haveclass there. Those whose courses are taught in English, in principle, are not permittedto study in OEC without any approval gained from OSAO.
9. Policy on applications for changes
A.Extension of the duration of study
Except General Scholar, applicants should submit an application to theirembassy with an official document from OSAO. Attention should be paid that theapplication is accepted before March, the year when the study program finishes.Final decisions will be given by CSC in July.
B.Extension of the duration of Chinese language study
Unqualified Students are not permitted, in principle, to extend the duration.For those who participate in a Masters program (and above) taught in Chinese,their application can be considered with relevant official documents from OSAO.The application should be submitted to the embassy in time. Final decisionswill be given by CSC in July.
Deadline for application:
a. the end of February, the year when the Study is supposed to finish;
b. the end of December, the year when the transition major study begins
C.Withdrawal , Suspension and Graduate in advance
a. Degree Student should report their change to Oversea student affairs office atleast 1 or 2 months in advance; then complete formalities required and approvedby the offices mentioned-above. The documents should be submitted to CSC by OSAO.Students are not supposed to leave without any consent granted by CSC.
b. Non-degree Student should report and apply to OSAO 1 month in advance beforetheir departure
D. Change of teaching language
Students are not permitted to change their teaching language as specified inthe Admission Notice except for some due causes. Applicants should firstconsult with OSAO for advice. Applications can only be accepted the first monthwhen new CSC student starts his/her study. Attention should be also paid thatthe whole study should not exceed the appointed duration granted by CSC.
E.Change of major
Students are not permitted, in principle, to change their majors specified inthe Admission Notice. Advice and approval should be gained from currentmajor/college, immigrant major/college and OSAO. The application with allapproved documents is supposed to be forwarded to CSC by OSAO. The new study ofa new program should not exceed the appointed duration granted by CSC. Thechange is applicable in the first 2 months of new autumn semesters, or the last2 months of spring semesters.
F. Change of University
a. Transfer out of CUG
Students who wish to transfer into other universities or institutions aresupposed to confirm the acceptor themselves. Accordingly, OSAO would assist tosend an official document to CSC.
b. Transfer into CUG
CSC students from other universities who wish to study in CUG are supposed tocontact CUG International student Admissions Office and provide requireddocuments and certificates while applying for the transfer. The Office willsend an acceptance letter to CSC as well as the Admission Notice to theapplicant. Personal documents or profiles should be submitted to OSAO when thestudents register in CUG.
