Relying onits own resources and the help and support from Chongqing Academy of traditional Chinese medicine and Taiji Group, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications set up a joint Institute- College of Bio-information in 2000.
College of Bio-information offers four undergraduate programs: Traditional Chinese Pharmacology, Biomedical Engineering, Biological Technology, and Pharmacy Engineering. Out of the total number of 57, 77.2% of staff has Master’s degree or above, including one expert who enjoys special government allowances from the State Council, four professors and 13 associate professors. At present, the College has an enrollment of more than 900 students.
Notably, the College owns three research centers, namely Institute of existing medicinal plants, bio-informatics laboratory, and Institute of Biomedical Information Engineering. It has achieved good economic and social impact at home and abroad as a number of projects have been industrialized and its close relationship with domestic and international contemporaries in academic exchange. Among 30 academic programs, four are state-level scientific research projects and nine are provincial level. It has cooperated with West Texas A&M University, Taiwan University, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and other well-known institutions.

Application is accepted at any time of the year in CQUPT. And the spring semester begins around the beginning of March, while the fall semester begins at the beginning of September.
Entry requirements
For Bachelor’s program: Be in good health condition; with senior high school diploma and HSK certificate of level 4 or above;
For Master’s program: Be in good health condition; with Bachelor degree and HSK certificate of level 6 or above;
Note: for preparatory students, they should be with senior high school diploma and without Chinese knowledge;
