7-day Silk Road tour of Heavenly Mountain and Heavenly Lake, Turpan Grape Valley, Dunhuang Mogao Caves, JIayuguan, Lanzhou (one-way flight and sleeper train)
In the history of the world’s ancient civilizations, the Silk Road had a far-reaching influence of the economic and cultural exchanges and development of countries along its path. As you began your journey along this famous Silk Road, may you learn its history, understand its culture, experience its historical changes, and enjoy its sights.
Day 1: Nanjing-Urumqi
Arrive at Nanjing and fly to Urumqi, then transfer to the hotel.
Day 2: Wushi-Turpan
Take a bus to Turpan in the morning, enjoy the view of “Xinjiang Dead Sea”---Salty Lake, Asia’s largest wind power station---Dabancheng Power Station on the way. Visit the Flaming Mountain and ancient city---jiaohe Gucheng. Then visit Uighur old village, one of the greatest water conservancy projects in ancient China---Karez, Green Treasure---Grape Valley. Take a visit to Uighur family. In the evening freely visit Erdaoqiao International Grand Bazaar or Wuyi Star Night Market.
Day 3: Wushi-Heavenly Mountain and Heavenly Lake
Take a bus to “the peal on the Heavenly Mountain”---Heavenly Lake and enjoy the amazing view of the mountain and the lake. Then back to Wushi and visit Tianshan large pharmacy and Hetian Jade of Fushide Shop. In the evening take a sleeper train to Liuyuan Station.
Day 4: Liuyuan-Dunhuang
Arrive at Liuyuan in the morning, take a bus to Dunhuang and visit the “Oriental Art Treasure”---Mogao Caves, Wonder in the Desert---Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring. Then take a visit to Dunhuang Luminescent Cup Factory. In the evening visit Shazhou Night Market.
Day 5: Dunhuang-Jiayuguan
Take a bus to jiayuguan in the morning, enjoying the amazing karst landform, beacon tower, Qilian Mountain. After arrival visit Jiayuguan City Gate Tower. In the evening take a sleeper train to Lanzhou.
Day 6: Lanzhou
Arrive at Lanzhou, visit White Pagoda Mountain Park, visit the statue of Yellow River Mother, the first bridge above Yellow River---Zhongshan Iron Bridge, and irrigation tool in Ming Dynasty---Gushuicheyuan. In the afternoon take a hard sleeper train back to Nanjing.
Day 7: Nanjing
Arrive at Nanjing in the morning. Journey ends.
Accommodation: All the hotels are 3-star or the same lever, standard rooms.
