It also offers 8 Master's degree authorizations, such as transportation planning and management, logistics engineering and management, traffic engineering, industry economy, technologic economy, administration management, international trade and enterprise management, and 3 Engineering Master's degree authorizations in transportation planning and management, logistics engineering and project management.
Besides all departments above, there are some research institutes, which study in port and shipping, transportation economy, international shipping human resources, transportation planning, global economy, tourism science, international trade and inter-country investment, strategic management and systems organization, electronic commerce, as well as e-government and logistics system engineering.
At the same time, there are some research centers which research in transportation information, marketing planning, small and medium enterprise development, venture, ocean development and management, and information management and system. Meanwhile, it also owns a provincial key laboratory of logistics and shipping management systems engineering, and information management and information system laboratory, transportation management simulation laboratory, logistics laboratory and economy and commerce laboratory.
The college enjoys a good environment for study, and is excellent in research in international shipping, foreign trade transportation, logistic engineering and management, port designment and planning, port operation and management, business administration, economy and trade, information management and electronic commerce, port and shipping administration management and public management. It undertakes a number of research projects from National Natural Science Foundation of China , National Social Science Foundation of China, and also from state ministry, province and municipal government and large enterprises, and has obtained quite enriched research results, of which have been awarded at provincial levels.
Undergraduate majors are provided in our college in six classifications: Transportation; Information management and Information system; Logistics engineering (System engineering); Economics, which contains subjects of international economics and trade, and economics; Industry and Business Management, which includes Logistics management, Business administration, Marketing, Financial Management, Tourism management, E-commerce; and Public Management, including shipping management, administration management, public utilities management.
The college is dedicated to provide favorable academic environment, owing to this, the class 982 and the class 991 of international transportation were awarded the honor of "national outstanding collective" separately in 2002 and in 2003. In addition, the students have won the first prize in the cross-disciplinary contest hosted by United States and in the National Mathematical Modeling Contest, and they performed distinguishable in the National University English Contest and in the science and technology contest. The graduates boast the top employment rate in the last 5 years, about 98%, and most of them are employed by shipping companies at home and abroad, or economic management enterprises, maritime agencies, administrative departments, research institutes and high school.
