Guangxi International Business Vocational College is a stated-owned higher education institute. The college aims to foster international-oriented talents for modern business and has been cultivating business managers for Guangxi for many years. Subject to the administration of the Department of Commerce of Guangxi, the college’s predecessor was the School of International Business and Economics founded in 1965 and it was upgraded to be Guangxi International Business Vocational College in 2002, a higher education institute.
The college has three campuses covering a total area of 930 mu (1 mu=0.0666667 ha) and is featured by modern business. 9200 full-time students major in 50 main subjects (including specialties) in the Department of Applied Foreign Language, the Department of Foreign Trade, the Department of Accounting, the Department of Market Circulation, the Department of Information Engineering, the Department of Finance, the Department of Fundamental Course, the Department of Social Science. In addition, there are 3700 students receiving adult education.
The college is not only a model establishment of Guanxgi Zhuang Autonomous Region and a talent training center of the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), but acknowledged by the Ministry of Education as a model college in cultivating talents. It has more than 600 full-time and part-time staff of high calibre. The staff team is considerably organized and constituted by personnels specialized in different majors and fields. Since its founding, the college has fostered a lot of talents for the society.
Being authorized to recruit overseas students, it has cooperated with over 20 universities in countries such as the U.K., the U.S., Thailand and Malaysia and therefore is characterized by international communication. It has recruited overseas students to study Chinese language and Chinese culture and receive professional training. As an organizer of MOFCOM’s Foreign Aid Program, it has held seminar courses and training courses such as the ‘Training Course on Sugar Industry for Jamaica ‘ and the ‘Seminar Course on Tourism Industry Cooperation for China-ASEAN’ and therefore has trained over 200 government officials and technicians from ASEAN and other developing countries.
