College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM), founded in 1946 in Lanzhou with its original name of National Veterinary College of China, is now a part of Gansu Agricultural University (GAU). CVM has three departments, including Basic Veterinary Medicine Department, Preventative Veterinary Medicine Department and Clinical Veterinary Medicine Department. There are 15 professors, 14 associate professors, 9 lectures and 15 staff in total.
Authorized as the national first-level discipline by the academic degree committee of the state council, CVM possesses both doctor’s and master’s degree program in its sub-level disciplines: basic veterinary, preventive veterinary, clinical veterinary and veterinary medicine engineering. There is 1 provincial embryo engineering and technological research center of bovine and ovine. Postdoctoral research program was established in 2003.
Investigative achievements by the college staff have been recognized to be in leading place in the areas of animal reproductive physiology & embryo engineering, animal histology & anatomy, prevention and control of infectious and parasitical diseases of domestic animal and poultry, domestically even worldwide. More than 20 achievement awards have been granted from national ministry or provincial authorities, among which, 8 were adopted into practical application and have yielded a direct economic benefits amounting to 30 million yuan (RMB).
At present, 28 research projects are being carried out by the college staff with funding totaling over 5 million yuan (RMB), 8 of which were supported by ministries of the state council, 2 by the national natural foundation and national social science foundation.
Up to now, more than 2500 undergraduate students graduated from the college, 59 and 293 students have been awarded Ph.D and Ms degrees respectively

For international students, the academic year begins in September. The duration for application is from March 1st to June 30th.
Entry Requirements
Undergraduates: at least finish high school studying; be in good health; pass HSK Band 3.
Master candidates: having been awarded bachelor degree; be in good health; pass HSK Band 6.
Doctor candidates: having been awarded master degree; be in good health; pass HSK Band 6.
