Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (GZHUTCM), now Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine (GZHUCM), established in 1956, is one of the four oldest TCM institutes of higher education in China. It was originally administered by the Ministry of Health and the State Administration of TCM, and is one of the first educational institutes approved to award master’s and doctor’s degree in China. In October 1998, the university was listed as a key university by central and provincial government for developing its key disciplines within national “211 Program” (a program launched by Chinese Ministry of Education and aiming to establish about 100 internationally well-known Chinese universities in the 21st century) during the period of China national “ninth five-year plan”. In the same year, the university became one of the first national postgraduate clinical.
