The Department of Information Material Science & Engineering in Guilin University of Electronic Technology was founded in 2004 by combining the former Research Center of Material Science and Engineering, Physics Teaching and Research Section and one experimental center of Physics.
The Department boasts a well-trained and innovative teaching and research group. At present, it has a faculty of 40 people, including 10 professors, 4 tutors of Ph.D. student, 13 associate and senior engineers. Most of the members in the faculty have Master’s degree or above.
Aiming at training talents in the field of material science, the Department offers two Bachelor’s program in Material Science and Engineering and Material Formation and Control Engineering; it also offers four Master’s program in the field of Materials Processing Engineering and Material, etc.
Since its establishment, the Department has got rich achievements in the research of Material Science and Engineering and other related areas. Equipped with first-class research facilities, it has gained numerous research results in the area of Physics & Chemistry, Metal Materials Processing, etc.
Based on its strong strength of research, the researchers in the Department have hosted or joined 67 research projects successfully, including 11 projects of national level. The total amount of research funds in it has reached 6 million yuan. In recent years, it has got more than 20 patents.
Under the efforts of the teachers and students, the Department of Information Material Science & Engineering will try its best to make more achievements in the teaching and research field of material science in the future.

Undergraduate students: 4 years
Postgraduate students: 3 years

The deadline for application is September 1 every year.
The academic spring semester is from March to July, while the fall semester is from September to January.

For Bachelor’s degree:
Senior high school graduate, HSK3 certificate or above, in good physical condition.
For Master’s degree:
Have Bachelor’s degree or above, HSK3 certificate or above, academic score list, 2 recommended letters from two associate professors or above, in good physical condition.
For Doctoral degree:
Have Master’s degree or above, HSK3 certificate or above, academic score list, 2 recommended letters from two associate professors or above, in good physical condition.
