The School of Journalism and Communication (SJC) of GDUFS was founded in 2005, originating from the Department of Journalism of the School of International Cultural Communication. It has four departments, namely:
Department of Journalism;
Department of Advertising;
Research Institute of Media Economics;
Research Institute of Marketing Communication.
At the undergraduate level, courses of Journalism, Advertising, Broadcasting, and Art of Hosting are offered by a staff of 30 teachers, among which are 3 professors, 5 associate professors, and 6 with master's degrees. The school offers the following degree:
Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Communication.
And in collaboration with the School of Interpreting and Translation Studies, it also offers an advanced degree:
Master's degree in Communication, Translation and Interpretation.
SJC employs a group of experts as guest professors from the Propaganda Department of Guangdong Provincial Committee, three major newspaper corporations in Guangzhou, Guangdong television broadcasting corporations and Shenzhen newspaper corporations. SJC has close contact with a number of journalism-related institutes of different universities in Hong Kong, America and Britain.
