The College of Mechanical and Power Engineering was made up of the relevant mechanical departments of the former Harbin University of Science and Technology, Harbin Institute of Electrical Technology and Harbin Electromechanical Training School. Currently, this college has 5 undergraduate programs, i.e., machinery design, manufacturing and automation, machinery and electronics engineering, thermal energy and power engineering, vehicle engineering and industrial design. The machinery design, manufacturing and automation also have the authority to confer doctoral degree. The disciplines of mechanical engineering, thermal energy and power engineering, vehicle engineering have the right to confer master’s degrees. The mechanical manufacture and automation is a provincial-level key discipline. Currently, there are nearly 2,300 undergraduate students, 35 doctoral degree candidates and 154 master degree candidates at school.
With regard to the educational organization, there are 7 teaching departments at this college. They are departments of machinery manufacturing and automation, mechanical design and automation, machinery and electronics engineering, vehicle engineering, thermal engineering, industrial design and mechanical engineering. Besides, it has a teaching and research room of graphics and digital media and a training center of digital design and manufacture. It has 25 laboratories. The machinery design, manufacturing and automation are provincial level key programs. And the laboratory of modern manufacturing technology and tool bit development is a provincial level key laboratory.
Currently, there are 150 teaching and administrative staffs at this college, in which, one is provincial level famous teacher, 11 are doctoral tutors, 35 are professors, 70 are associate professors and assistant researchers, over 30 of the teachers have doctoral degrees and 71 have master’s degrees or above.
The College of Mechanical and Power Engineering pays attention to the cultivation of the students’ foreign language ability, manipulative ability of the computer application and the social adaptation ability. It devotes itself to cultivate the students into high-level talents who have solid theoretical basis and wide range of knowledge and can undertake the scientific research and project work alone.

For international students, the academic year begins in September. The duration for application is from March 1st to June 30th.
