Huangshi Institute of Technology (HIT) is a state-owned institution of higher learning administrated by Hubei Provincial Government. It was established with the approval from the Ministry of Education in December 1975. It is situated in the second largest city in Hubei Province -- Huangshi city, which is on the southern bank of the Yangtze River and is known as “the Pearl of South China”.
The institute faces a large lake---Cihu Lake and leans against Qinglong Hill. It has a campus of 145 hectares (2189 mu) with a construction area of more than 530,000 square meters. The total value of the teaching and research apparatuses amounts to 73 million RMB. The college library has an extensive collection of 790,000 volumes and about 2000 periodicals in Chinese and foreign languages. On the garden-like campus stand modern teaching buildings, research buildings, laboratory buildings and libraries. It has brilliant flowers and green woods all year round.
