The predecessor of College of Liberal Arts, Huaqiao University was the department of Chinese language and literature of Huaqiao University which was founded in 1960. Over the past 49 years, it has cultivated over 3,000 graduates for the world, including the famous writer of Hong Kong--- Mr. Dongrui.
College of Liberal Arts has 3 research institutes. Currently, it offers 4 postgraduate programs (modern and contemporary Chinese literature, classical Chinese literature, literature and art, Chinese philology) and 3 undergraduate programs (Chinese language and literature, radio and television journalism, advertising). There are now over 900 undergraduate and postgraduate students at this college. The reference room of this college has over 60,000 books and over 60 kinds of professional periodicals. Besides, this reference room has over 2,000 Chinese literary books presented by the overseas scholars.
Currently, College of Liberal Arts has over 20 professors and associate professors, all the teachers under 35 years old have doctoral degree or master’s degree. Since 2000, the teachers of this college have undertaken over 40 scientific research projects of various types, including 3 state-level projects and over 20 provincial and ministerial level projects. Besides, the teachers have published over 300 academic theses and over 30 monographs. 5 achievements have won the outstanding achievement prize of social sciences. And these achievements have a certain influence both at home and abroad.

Entry requirements
For Bachelor’s degree: Applicants must be under the age of 35 years, and in good physical condition, holding a non-China passport and having graduated from high school, academic records, have an HSK test score of grade 3 or above.
For Master’s degree: Applicants must be under 40 of age and in good physical condition, holding a non-China passport and a Bachelor’s degree, have 2 letters of recommendation from full professors or associate professors, have an HSK test score of level 5 or above.
