The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering was established with the merger of the former electrical engineering department and the computer science department in May, 1985. Currently, there are over 2,000 undergraduate students and over 100 master degree candidates at this school. This school consists of electrical engineering department, department of communication engineering, department of automation, department of electronic information engineering and one experimental center. The experimental center includes 20 professional laboratories, such as EDA laboratory, network laboratory, etc. The laboratory of this school has a collection of over 3,000 volumes. Besides, this laboratory has ordered over 50 magazines.
School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering has four undergraduate programs --- electrical engineering and automation, automation, electronic information engineering, communication engineering. And this school was the first to offer master’s programs in the whole university. Now, it has the master’s program of power electronics and power drives. This discipline is also the provincial level key discipline.
Currently, this school has 110 teaching and administrative staffs. Of the 91 full-time teachers, 35 are holders of senior technical titles or above, 69 are holders of master’s degree or doctoral degree. Besides, this school has 5 visiting professors.
The teachers of this school have finished lots of scientific research projects, such as large scale pumping station synchronous motor excitation transformation, large and medium scale pumping station electric motor speed-raising, power electronics measuring instrument, electric power market theory and operation, etc.
The scientific research activities of the students are also plentiful. In 1995 and 2001, they have won the third prize of the national challenge cup. In the second national university students’ electronic design contest, they have won the second prize in Hubei area and excellent organization prize, etc.
The laboratory equipments of this school include 2C100KB Hysteresis Dynamometer, experimental facilities of power and electron technology and electric machine control, EL teaching experimental box, ZYE1502C experimental box, EL-DSP-2 DSP experimental system, CISCO 3524-EMI switch and 2621-XM router and microcomputer which are part of the network.

Application Time
For international students, the academic year begins in September. The duration for application is from March 1st to June 30th.

Undergraduates: senior high school graduate; HSK Band 3 or above; in good health.
Master candidates: Have a Bachelor’s degree or above; HSK Band 3 or above; in good health.
Doctor candidates: Have a Master’s degree or above, HSK Band 3 or above; in good health.
